In the drizzle,Xi'an Daming Palace is especially solemn and solemn. As the political center of the Tang Dynasty,it hosted envoys from all over the world, witnessed the second revival of the Silk Road, and symbolized the open and inclusive spirit of the Han and Tang Dynasties.
It is hard to imagine that this site park lined with green willows was still the largest shanty town with a population of 100,000 in Xi'an seven years ago.The infrastructure was weak and public security cases occurred frequently, which aroused strong reaction from the surrounding people.
Since modern times, the area where the Daming Palace ruins is located has gradually become a settlement of refugees fleeing from the famine.Due to the need of site protection, the urban construction here is greatly restricted, and no deep digging and buried line operation can be carried out. There are lines to pick up water, lines to go to the toilet, and glass tricycles that pass through alleys. The potholes can shatter the glass inside.
"Site protection is not a natural opposition to urban development.Site protection projects can become projects for people's livelihood, allowing people around to live in sync with urban development.""Said Wu Chun, director of the Daming Palace Cultural Relics Bureau.
In October 2007,construction of the Daming Palace National Heritage Park began, and the transformation of 3.5 square kilometers of shanty towns and urban villages around the site began. In the past six years, nearly 40,000 housing units in 15 resettlement communities have been built, and the per capita living space of people living in shanty towns has risen from less than 10 square meters to 25 square meters.Today's Daming Palace Site is surrounded by schools, hospitals and supermarkets.
How much cultural space there is in a city is a direct reflection of the degree of civilization of the city.Wu told reporters that from the very beginning, the preservation of the Daming Palace Site did not intend to conduct scientific research behind closed doors, but was committed to building the park into a public cultural platform for the masses.More than two-thirds of the park is open to the public free of charge. At the same time,Danfengmen Ruins Museum,Daming Palace Ruins Museum,Daming Palace Archaeological Exploration Center and other museum communities and science education centers have been built.
It is reported that the park received more than 8 million visitors in 2013.In addition, the cultural gathering effect of the site area is also gradually highlighted. At present, nearly 200 mass cultural groups such as opera, chorus and martial arts have been housed in the"Mass Stage"of Daming Palace Site Park, making it the most influential mass culture brand in Xi'an.
"With the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt,it is believed that the Daming Palace Site will become the latest highland of cultural tourism value in Xi'an,thus bringing greater development. In this process, residents around the site will change from passive recipients of culture to beneficiaries of culture, and finally become disseminators of culture."Wu Chun said.
