About 100,000 to 200,000 copper coins were found in a large urn excavated on December 25 in Kurohama,Rada City of Saitama Prefecture, according to the underground cultural and archaeological investigation institute of Saitama Prefecture on December 9.
According to the report, the place where the big urn was unearthed is the relics of the Takujia Pavilion in the feudal era of Japan. The site was discovered last October during road construction in Saitama Prefecture.
The bronze coins range from the"Kaiyuan Tongbao"dating from the Tang Dynasty(621)to the"Yongle Tongbao"dating from the Ming Dynasty(1408).It can be inferred that the copper coins were buried after the 15th century.
